Puffin's Perch is Perfect
Puffin's Perch turned out to be the perfect match for us after a rough start with the originally booked house falling through last minute. Between VRBO and Tides to Pines we were settled in in less than 24 hours after our original check-in. Both turned the disappointing start into an extremely enjoyable month along the Maine coast. (Have to say Tide to Pines is one of the most friendly and attentive management companies we've dealt with - a couple glitches were immediately remedied with little to no inconvenience... remember this was a last minute booking)
This is a spacious little cottage replete with new appliances, large kitchen with all we needed for a month (including the all important lobster pot), a bright windowed dining nook off the kitchen, cozy living space with TV, puzzles, books, guides, and games, 3 comfortable bedrooms with the two upstairs beds being adjustable, windows that let the beautiful Maine light in and a yard that bloomed, allowed squirrels and birds to delight us in the early morning as we ate breakfast and a mudroom area with laundry. Outside we sat and watched sunsets over the water across the way from the raised seating area where we cooked on a small charcoal grill delights from the plentiful area farmer's markets (Rockland Thursdays, Camden Fridays, Belfast Saturdays). Port Clyde, Marshall lighthouse and Drift Inn beach were a hop-skip from the house and we recommend the Monhegan Island boat trip from Port Clyde. Then within 1-2 hours either North or South there is so much to see and enjoy. Then relax and enjoy the cool breeze back at the "Perch" or play some cribbage or do puzzles. We bring our dog and she was quite at home too.
This was by far one of the most memorable and relaxing month long visits (we do 1-2 each year) anywhere.
I know it all sounds too good so I'll admit ticks and mosquitos are a Maine distraction (everywhere) but you figure out how to live with them.
