There are plenty of places to vacation. Places where every minute is scheduled, every restaurant requires a reservation weeks in advance, and every “must-see” attraction comes with a line. Maine isn’t one of those places. Or at least, not the Maine we know.
The Maine we love isn’t about checking things off a list. It’s about slowing down enough to notice the things that can’t be planned:

One of my favorite things about living in Maine is that the best recommendations almost never come from a brochure. They come from the person pouring your coffee, the lobsterman at the dock, or the shop owner who tells you to take the “long way home.”

Maybe it’s a quiet cove you would have driven right past, a family-run bakery with warm blueberry muffins, or a scenic overlook that never makes the travel magazines.
Those are the moments that stay with you long after vacation ends. And honestly, those are the moments we love helping our guests discover. The beautiful thing is that it looks a little different depending on where you are.
Boothbay Harbor
You might spend the afternoon wandering the waterfront before boarding a sunset sail or strolling through the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
Damariscotta
The pace slows even further. Oyster farms line the river, bookstores invite you inside for “just a minute,” and lunch somehow stretches well into the afternoon.
Rockland and Camden
Fishing boats share the harbor with majestic schooners. Spend the morning exploring galleries and local shops, enjoy fresh oysters on the waterfront, hike Mount Battie for one of Maine’s most iconic views, and finish the day watching the sun disappear behind the islands.
Acadia National Park
Head farther north, and Acadia reminds you just how small you are—in the best possible way. Sunrise on Cadillac Mountain. Carriage roads winding through the forest. Waves crashing against granite cliffs that have stood there for thousands of years.
Moosehead Lake
Where Maine feels wonderfully wild. Days are measured by paddle strokes, campfires, loon calls, and star-filled skies instead of clocks. It’s the kind of place where losing cell service starts to feel less like an inconvenience and more like a gift.
Every corner of Maine tells a different story.
