On this lovely island 22 miles off the coast of Rockland in Penobscot Bay, you’ll enjoy all the conveniences of a home away from home as well as the unique experience of living in a remote island community. Spend your days walking to the island’s quiet beaches and your afternoons and evenings enjoying the home’s large yard and firepit. Additional amenities include free WiFi, flatscreen TVs, and a fully equipped kitchen to assist with family dinners at home.

As the most remote island in Penobscot Bay, Matinicus Island is a wonderful place to take a deep breath and relax. The island has limited cell service and no stores or restaurants to distract you, but there are serene sandy beaches – some of which are accessible only on foot.

Things to Know
Before booking your reservation, it is imperative that you coordinate transportation from the mainland to the island, and from the landing dock to your rental. A short walk can feel like a very long walk when you have to carry all your luggage to and from the unit. This is a guest’s responsibility.
